Sara Davies, a familiar face from the hit show ‘Dragons’ Den’, has opened up about the hurdles her £37 million arts and crafts company, Crafter’s Companion, has encountered in recent years.

The 39-year-old entrepreneur is candid about the tough times her company is enduring and her relentless efforts to navigate through them.

Crafter’s Companion, a renowned brand globally, ships its products to over 40 countries, spanning Asia, South Africa, North and South America, Europe, and Australia. With a workforce exceeding 200 employees worldwide, the company has been a significant player in the arts and crafts industry.

Davies admits that her business has faced mounting challenges, particularly stemming from increased costs post-Covid and amid Brexit uncertainties. Speaking to the Mirror, she shared, “I’m just going to be really honest, it has been a rough couple of years.”

Despite the setbacks, Davies remains resolute in her commitment to steering Crafter’s Companion back to stability. She acknowledges the responsibility that comes with her public profile, expressing her determination to lead by example. “I’ve had to work harder than I ever have in my life,” she affirmed.

The company recently underwent a restructuring process, with investor firm Growth Partner assuming the majority shareholding. However, Davies retains her positions as owner, founder, and director of the company, signaling her continued dedication to its success.

Addressing the challenges faced by the company, a spokesperson for Crafter’s Companion emphasized confidence in the brand’s future despite the difficult trading environment. They highlighted ongoing financial investments to support the company’s growth trajectory without passing additional costs onto consumers.

Davies’ entrepreneurial journey began with the development and successful marketing of her groundbreaking product, The Enveloper, which garnered significant attention and sales. Graduating with a first-class honors degree, she already had a thriving business with a turnover exceeding half a million pounds.

Davies’ contributions to the industry have not gone unnoticed, with numerous business accolades and an MBE from Prince William in 2016 for her services to the economy. Her diverse achievements also include a stint on the popular TV show ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ in 2021, where she partnered with professional dancer Aljaž Škorjanec.

Davies continues to navigate the challenges facing Crafter’s Companion and remains a symbol of perseverance amidst adversity, committed to steering her company towards brighter horizons.
